Set it up before your birthday
Join Starbucks Rewards early, then keep the birthday details in your account current. The current eligibility rules for this listing are shown below; the official terms remain the final word.
- Open the official Starbucks Rewards page ↗ and join at least 7 days before your birthday.
- Add your birthday to the account.
- Complete at least 1 Star-earning transaction before your birthday each year.
Know your redemption window
Your membership tier controls the reward window. Plan around the window shown for your account, since program terms and eligibility can change.
- Green: on the birthday.
- Gold: 7 days starting on the birthday.
- Reserve: 30 days starting on the birthday.
The birthday reward covers one handcrafted beverage, one food item, or one ready-to-drink bottled beverage at participating stores. Alcohol, multi-serve items, merchandise, packaged coffee, and similar exclusions do not qualify. To redeem, present the membership barcode in the app or use the registered Starbucks Card.
If the reward is missing
First, log in and check whether the reward was issued and whether an expiration date is displayed. Compare the account setup and transaction timing with the checklist above, then use Starbucks’ official support path if the reward still does not appear. This is editorial guidance only; it does not guarantee a replacement reward or a manual credit.
Do not send us your birthday, membership number, barcode, screenshots, or payment details. We cannot inspect or change a Starbucks account.
Before you make the trip
Before leaving, log in to confirm the reward and its displayed expiration, then check that your chosen location participates. This is an independent U.S. guide, not a record of a personal redemption. The Starbucks Rewards terms ↗ covers standard consumer Rewards members and separately notes employee-related exceptions; this guide does not cover employee rules. Browse the birthday freebies directory or set up a birthday countdown for the rest of your plan.
